Why You Need a Blog as a Barber
Why You Need a Blog as a Barber
Pretty much all businesses should have some sort of online presence and one of the easiest ways to establish yours is with a blog.
Your posts will show up in Google search
If for no other reason than this you should have a blog. Social media, though businesses do you use it, is still more about individual user interaction.
As barbers 90% of your clients will come from a Google search "barbers near me or barbers X city etc. When those searches are done if your social profiles show up in search at all it won't be on the first page (unless you're running ads).
No one goes to any social media platform to find their barber. You may get one or 2 but those are outliers.
Great for Longtail keywords and driving traffic
Long-tail keywords are how you outrank the competition and tend to be easier to rank for. Since your blog will outrank others you'll receive more of the organic search traffic than competitors.
The ability for internal linking
Having a blog opens up the opportunity to keep readers on your site with internal linking. Getting backlinks to a site can be difficult but linking similar posts together on your site to share traffic is relatively easy.
Help you build your email database
It's super important as a business to build your email list. According to the Direct Marketing Association, "email marketing on average sees a 4300 percent return on investment (ROI) for businesses in the USA."
Using simple sign-up forms is a great way to grow your email list. Once you have subscribers you now have warm leads you can continually market to.
Also they're your leads not a social platforms.
Inform your regulars with updates of your business
You can update your regular readers/ customers quickly and efficiently using your blog. Transparency to customers is looked at favorably by 80 percent of blog members.
Keeping open communication also makes clients feel informed which is psychologically satisfying to most people
Getting feedback from customers
Your comment section in your blog is your opportunity to get feedback and further adds to the transparency of your brand.
As a bonus you can get reviews (using the right plug ins) and respond here as well. The more you interact online the further you increase your reach.
Teach and explain more about products and services
Using your blog you can facilitate teaching about your products and services. When people search for how tos or other info in your niche you position yourself higher than the competition from both a user standpoint and a search engine one.
You can even become an affiliate for products you recommend and make a side commission on those as well.
Your teachings can be made into digital courses and sold on different markets.
E books are also and will continue to be big in the future
Those are just 3 ideas to parse out your knowledge, gain clientele, and diversify your income stream as a barber just using your blog.
It's much easier to gain social exposure with blog articles
Your blog articles will overtime naturally garner a following. Provided you put share links in your posts people will share them via social media.
Actively sharing them yourself (promoting) will increase the rate that happens. The more shares the more exposure and the higher you'll rank in searches for barbers.
Blogging is simple and effective. All you need is post consistency, time, and a bit of networking to make it work.
